Being named one of Fast Company’s 100 Most Creative People in Business 2013 is a huge honor. It is equal parts thrilling and humbling; I vow to do my part to continue to make business creative and data cool!!

Hilary Mason is chief scientist at Bitly and cofounder of hackNY, which works to cultivate the next generation of hackers who will stoke innovation in New York. Leslie Bradshaw is COO of the startup Guide, which uses text-to-speech and avatar technology to create animated newscasts from online news, blogs, and social streams. Prior to that, she co-founded the digital agency JESS3, which specializes in data visualization. They met at Bitly’s New York offices to talk about the proper marriage of data and creativity.

Incredibly proud / excited / jazzed for the entire Beutler Ink team. I have been longtime friends + co-conspirators with its principal, Bill Beutler, and am proud to say I’ve been one of his first and longest clients.
What he is building is as inspiring as it is utilitarian. I’ve also had the pleasure of working with its VP of Content, Jenny Karn, at the data visualization agency I co-founded. All told, I’ve probably clocked over 10,000 collaborative hours with both Bill and Jenny and plan to clock tens of thousands more.
